Bandmakers Newsletter – February 2017

No Comments News

Hello Bandmakers fans!

Winter term is off and running, and again we have two bands.  This session will complete our first year of Bandmakers and we have had enough for two bands for 3 out of 4 terms, with more than 50% of students returning for more sessions.  We are excited about this and take this excellent retention rate both as a compliment and motivation to keep making the program better.

The concert for Winter 2017 will be…

Saturday, March 18th
7:00pm
Holbrook Masonic Lodge
2019 Main St.
Forest Grove, OR 97116
All ages – suggested donation $5.00

We’re not running for President, but we are trying to make good use of social media.  We invite everyone to follow us on Twitter and help spread the word to others who are interested in music!  Recent tweets have included updates about the program, news from rehearsals, and a note about Bob Marley’s birthday (Feb 6).  We are hoping to expand both our Twitter and Facebook reach and help make these resources a gathering place for musicians and music enthusiasts.

Register Now For Spring Term

Registration is now open for Spring term, which runs from April 4th through June 6th, with the big concert tentatively scheduled for June 10th.

The accompanying Intro to Ensembles class is scheduled for Saturday, April 1st (no foolin’!). This is a great opportunity to learn about the Bandmakers program and to find out what skills you need, as well as hone some of them in a safe and supportive environment. All instruments are welcome! Click here to sign up.

Donating The Easy Way

We now have a page on the site where folks can donate online via PayPal.  You can also find ways to contact us about donating gear.  All help is greatly appreciated!  Click here to donate now

Bandmakers Pro – The Next Step

Plans are underway to create the next level of instruction for those with more band experience, including our alumni.  Dale & Jim have been talking about all the things they wish there was time to cover such as basic PA operation, more stagecraft, audience engagement, and more complex arranging, plus all kinds of other stuff.

This course is still very much in the planning stage, so we need all the input we can get.  If you have an idea for a topic you’d like to see in a class like this, let us know!

Guitar Seminar Early Registration

Jim would like to remind everyone about the early bird special for his Strumming By The Sea acoustic guitar retreat / seminar.  Sign up before March 1st and save $50 on any of the available instruction packages.

That’s the news for now.  Thanks for your continued support!
